Is the real hen cherry supposed to come with chalk? I picked mine up at bass pro in buford last week and I noticed it didn't have any chalk. Of course the packaging looked like people had opened it up and tried it out so I am wondering if someone grabbed the chalk or if i may have fallen out. Thanks.

Also, how much and how often should you chalk?

-I'd rather be turkey hunting

Negative, it doesn't come with chalk.  Get some Primos chalk at walmart, etc. (or at least mine didn't)

Just a suggestion... but I've found it runs better if you chalk it horizontally across the paddle rather than up-and-down.  The only thing I can figure is that the chalk gets into the wood grain just a bit better.

Bought a 'Real Hen Cherry' and found it did not have chalk or any instructions on care. Sounds were wearing down and I tried powdered line chalk which really did not work well. Then I got some railroad chalk and was applying with the grain. That did not work well either. Saw this post and applied railroad chalk across the grain and that works.
