| | I have been using the Doug Crabtree sig. series call and it produces great sounds for just about any call. Iam very happy with it but everyone I know says a cutter type call is the way to go, as it is more universal and produces much better sounds. This being said, I pulled out a few of my yargus II calls and I cannot produce any good sounds (other than sharp cutting) with it and was wondering if you have to use a cutter type call differently, as far as call placement in your mouth, or toungue preasure/location etc. I really like the Split V but everyone I know talks like the cutter calls are a bit more universal and can produce many great sounds. Just looking for some input from the ones who know best. Thanks in advance! |

| | Everyone has there favorite. I wouldnt say that a cutter is the "best" call. Some like a ghost cut, some like a batwing, some like split V. That being said use what works best for you. I favor a split V with the wing tips trimmed off. Basically my signature call. Mitchell a batwing, his call and Sadler a ghost cut, his signature call. As for your question, when I do run a cutter, I call off of the right side of the call to get a cleaner front end.(yelping and purring) when cutting, cackling and clucking I call more towards the center. s.e. |

| | Try them all. Or at least all you can reasonably afford. The only way you'll know is to try them. Personally, I love the V-cut styles - Red Wasp being my favorite. However, I have been watching those BuzzCutters on clearance here for too long. I ordered the 3-pk on clearance 2 weeks ago for around $13. That would be a cheap and easy way for you to try some cutters. Or you can order the singles for around $5. They sound great too. I too discovered that placing that cutter on the right side of my tongue and even a little torqued side ways - I get a whole new hen in my mouth at once making high-pitched yelps, cutts and kee-kees very easy. When I first came to Woodhaven calls I tried some of the signature series calls too and didn't have as much success with them as I did with just the Classic V3, Red Wasp, etc. And now even though my calling is much improved I still get better sound out of the regular calls but I have put a lot more time in them cause straight out of the pack they talk turkey. Let me know what you try and how it turns out. Ed
