| Wow...so it begins here Monday. I was organizing my turkey vest with my calls. I didn't notice but I don't have enough room for all my calls...lol... How could I cut some room for my calls? I know it sounds crazy but all of them sound great. So I really can't narrow it down to best sounding to not so good. Woodhaven you have really out done yourself this year or maybe I have visited yall way to much this year. This problem is a first for me because I have bought some different calls this years to try.

| Its hard to say which calls will work better than the others on any given day. What i do is listen to the hens in the area im going to be hunting and pick out the one that closely resembles them. In fishing u hear to choose lure colors to closly match the bluegill, crawfish, and other forage in the water your fishing for better success. I think you should apply this Match the Hatch theory to turkey hunting as well, it cuts down on gear as well as making u more appealing to that ol' gobblers ears.

| Thanks or the response. Well I know I won't never put up the vision because it sounds so great. But I heard something the other day that turned me on. BEST BOX CALL I have ever heard. It is a Woodhaven call but hasn't made it to the market....Please Mr. Mike Please ..... Really love the red zones, TKMs, hot wings, and new energy....

| Sound like to me you need a vest with more call pockets. |

| | JMO, but regarding the mouth calls, I try to have only 4 or 5 which are distinctly different. Right now, I've got a variety that I believe will ultimately "fit" what a gobbler is willing to answer to: * Red Vyper modified to a bat cut: VERY raspy with very good ability to softly cluck; sounds best loud * Copperhead 2: raspier than the modified Vyper... but it is extremely effective when blown at medium-sound * Benefield: use it only for kee-kee and purring; if I'm in a situation where a bird is close and I'm not planning on calling much, it's the choice * V-cut call from another maker (sorry WH): clearer tone compared to the Vyper/Copperhead; good at all ranges but especially lower * Bat-wing cut from another maker (ditto WH): used only for prospecting - sounds horrible softly; lot less raspy than either the modified Vyper/Copperhead While I blow many more calls proficiently, this the best and most diverse lineup that I currently have. My main thought process is that most birds will have a liking for at least one of these... but then again, there a likely a lot that won't respond to any but hey, that's TH. |
