Is it against the rules of a NWTF sanctioned Contest to rough the surface of your glass call in between different calls? For example after completing the excited hen yelps can I hit the glass with some abrasive material to roughen it up before going to the next call which is a flydown cackle?

No, to my knowledge, it is not against the rules to "surface" your call between calls. Guys do it all the time. You shouldn't have a problem or issue if you do that onstage. My only thing is it seems to me that it could somehow/sometime....be a distracting sound(annoying) to the judges. Also, in a contest like the Grand Nationals(where a clock is on you) it could be a time constraint. Hope this helps.
