| | I know that all of Woodhaven calls are world class calls, and are great on the stage and in the field. I own approxitly twenty or twenty-five of these calls and love all of them.My question is which calls are better for the stage?what do the judge like to hear? |

| | That is a really tough question. What call works for one caller may not work for another etc. Best way to gauge your sounds is to listen to wild turkeys, such as the CD Tree Top Turkeys, compare your tones to the many hens your hearing on the disc. Even pick out one hen you like and try to imitate her. s.e. |

| | Forgive me, I did not give a direct answer to your question regarding what judges like.....In lieu of what I was saying about picking a real hen and trying to imitate her, we can only hope the judges are basing their score on "real" turkey. This is not always the case but it is the only way to gauge the hen you are trying to duplicate. Again pick a hen pleasing to your ear and try to emulate her tone and cadence. There is no one sound that is winning more than another right now in contest calling. Just remember your trying not to "offend" any judges with your sound. I mean it has to be pleasing to the ear and as Sadler once mentioned like a beauty pagent. The girl that all the judges like the most will be the winner..... Hope this helps... S.E. |
