Got the new calls in the mail this afternoon. Had a chance to run all three of the calls this evening. They are all pure turkey. My favorites are the Ellis and Johnson calls. Never been a big fan of ghost cut calls, but the Benefield does kee kee well and purrs great.

Scott Ellis call is just as described: breaks over into some nasty but sweet rasp,  cutts like a machine and talks XXX. Very easy call to run first time I put it in my mouth. Sounds like a old osceola boss hen when pushed hard.

Mitchell Johnson call is pure turkey. Tape seemed to be a little softer than the other three. Reeds were set back more than the others and the reeds to seemed to have a looser stretch. I'm a fan of batwing calls and ran the redwing last year. This call does it all: nice sweet rasp on the yelps, clucks & purrs, kee kee, and nice sharp cutts.

I need to run the Doug Benefield call some more and get used to running ghost cut calls. It is simple to run and also sounds great. Kee kee was very easy and it purred like no other.

All in all, this new energy pack is very well rounded and talks turkey. Might have to give the RedZone calls a try in a few weeks.

Hats off to Scott, Doug and Mitchell for some good calls.

I got the Energy 3 pack yesterday as well.  They all sounded good right out the box.  Just like you said, I am not a big ghost cut fan.  I found that it sounded pretty dang good.  I also received some of my favorite calls from the past, V3 and Comp 3.  I sat down and ran all of the calls in one sitting.  I will say this: all the calls from woodhaven are good.  I guess it is just a personal preference as to what you or your turkeys like.  I don't do any calling competitions, never have, probably never will.  I let the turkeys judge my calling.  I have been using the woodhaven mouth calls for about 8 years and have had great success.  The V3 and the Comp 3 have been consistently the best callers for me.  I am anxious to try these new energy calls in the field.  I will have a better perspective on these calls by the first week of April.

Is there a big difference in the Doug Benefield call differ from the Sadler McGraw call?

I found the Benefield easier to blow and sounded better right off the rip.  I got the McGraw several years ago and never really broke it in good or hunted with it.

Bought the pack last week and didn't find but one of the three to really be great out of the box... and it was the biggest surprise.  I've never been a fan of ghost-cut calls and don't usually blow them well, but the Benefield call is absolutely dynamite.  Kee-kees are very easy and it's very realistic when purring also.  Maybe if I continue w/ the other two they will get better.
