Folks,

Been running Sadler Signature call for several years now.  It seems to be the one that is always in my mouth after the shot.  I usually take a few of these calls and make a small cut into the back corners of the horseshoe  and make me one with a small cut dead center in the horseshoe.  This just gives me a call that I can still get a clear front end on what ever I need and adds a little more rasp at the end if I want it.

Question is.  I am sure I will be buying several of the new ghost cut calls and will probably do a little modifying to them also, but what upfront differences should I expect from the new calls versus Sadler's call.  I don't know the specs on Sadlers call thickness of latex, stretch, etc and was just wondering the differences and what was the target result with the development of the new ghost cuts.

The one thing I hope about them if like the Sadler calls.  If they are keepers for me, then if I just order 1 or 2 I am pretty confident that they will be good.  I bet over the last 2 or 3 years I have bought 25 of the Sadler call and they have all went to the woods.  Your alls consistency in mouth calls at Woodhaven is not just advertising, you all do a good job.

I am kinda hopong that they are about the same where now I can modify them a little and have a color coordinated set of calls to choose from.  Instead of a bunch of orange and grey ones with 1's and 2's  and 3's on them.

Thanks,

Adam Daugherty

Adam,

Thanks for using our calls and we appreciate you noticing the hard work it takes to produce quality and consistency in our calls! Sadler's call is a favorite of many and those small notches in the back of the ghost cut do make differences.

There was not a designed plan to come out with another Ghost call. We have the GrayGhost and the NWTF Ghost(red tape).....this year we added a youth sized (mini frame) yellow ghost and the RED GHOST in the RED ZONE pack. I think the RED GHOST is going to be a great call. It has a sweet sound with that particular blend of latex and the way we have it stretched. I do not add another call to our line up "just to have a new call". It is very good and has merit to it to be added, I assure you!

Thanks agin for your imput and interest!

Mike

Mike

I love that.

You may here that very line all across the turkey call market... but something about Mike Pentecost saying it makes me buy in... must be the reason why I'm Woodhaven all the way and why my calling has come as far as it has since 2004.  It's obvious when your turkey kills increase that Woodhaven DOES make a difference in the realism of your calling.

Anyway... Welcome to Woodhaven Adam!  Glad to have you and I too agree that the "batman ear" notches definitely make Sadler's ghost cut come alive!

I am also right with you on what call I have in my mouth after the trigger's been pulled... the Sadler Signature... truly a deadly call.

Souds Great.  Don't mean to act like a kid around christmas time but I can't wait to try out one of the new red latex ghost cuts in Nashville.  There is something about that red latex that seems to have great control and versatility when running it.  If it has some of the same "feel" to it as the red wasp I can understand where it could be a great call to kee-kee on and from my experience any call that has the controllabilty to run a good kee-kee usually translates into a real "in the woods" get real turkey call.  One of those diaphrams that gives you the versatility to not only sound like two different hens but to sound like a flock.  I think a call is only as good as the driver, but a man will get to have more good experinces driving a corvette than a pinto.

Thanks,

Adam Daugherty

All of my personal calls have the two notches in the back corners.  When I make my sig call for Woodhaven, I do not put the notch in, becasuse it creates a lot more rasp.  If you have the notches to begin with, you cant take them out if there is to much rasp.

So basically, I make the call middle of the road for everyone.

How big do you cut the bat ears into the call?
What kind of scissors do you use?
Do the cuts effect how well the call kee kees?
Guess I'll have to order 2 instead of 1 this year. Lol.

The cuts in mine range from 1/64 - 1/32, maybe even longer at times.  A little will go a long ways.   Turn them at a bout a 45 gegree angle.

I buy the Fiskars brand of scissors at Walmart, they can be found in the sewing section.  Mine have an orange handle and are about 4" long.

The dog ears should not effect the kee kee.

I can attest that the notches do not affect the ghost cuts' ability to kee-kee.

I make my notches anywhere between 1/16" and 1/8"... and use the scissors Sadler mentioned... as he said be carefull... a little does indeed go a long way.

If anything I believe the notches help make it easier for me personally to achieve a very nice throaty, raspy yelp coming out of the kee... much easier with the notches versus without.

It's just a perfect hunting call... I really like using it for plain yelps... soft talk... (i.e.- whits, whines) ... the deadly stuff.

Sadler brought this very thing up a few years back on the forum... and after trying it I have fell absolutely in love with his call.  The ONLY criticism I had of his call was I had trouble the way it came getting good rasp when yelping with it... but the notches take care of that.
