| | Hey Fellas, I just got a Benelli MII and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on a good choke-shot combo for me. I hate to spend a small fortune going through 5 or 6 boxes and/or shells....thought somebody might be able to help. Ive been thinking about an Indian Creek or Jellyhead. Thanks for the input!!! good luck n God Bless

| Hey there, CutnStrut!!! From one Benelli man to another, I would recommend a Comp-n-Choke. I have been using one with my Benelli SBE with great results. I've been shooting Winchester high velocity #5s and Federal high velocity flight control #5s with excellent patterns out to 50 yards. The only limitation with the Comp-n-choke is that you can't shoot any of the heavy shot type loads due to possible damage to the choke or gun. I do prefer the closer shot though for the extra excitement during the hunt. I just like to know the maximum effective range of my gun if had to make a shot to successfully harvest a bird.
With all of that being said, unfortunately, the only way to find the best combo. for your gun is to experiment with different chokes and loads. Good luck.

| I cant speak for ur gun choice but i own two indian creek tubes one in a 12ga thompson encore and a 20ga mossberg 500 both of which i shoot heavy shot. I wouldnt take anything for either one of them. I really think that combo has improved my kill ratio.

| If you are going to try the FlightControl wads, remember they were developed for non-ported chokes to get the maximum benifit out of the rear opening petals. It doesn't mean that they won't work in a ported tube, but if you are trying to save money, this may help steer you in the right direction. Check out the TruGLO Strut-Stopper Xtreme, and the HS Undertaker line of tubes if you get the chance. I use both of these as well as a Jellyhead, with great results. I shoot Hevi-13 and FlightControl copperplated #6's with great results in my gun. Good luck!

| | Hey C-n-S, I'm with Scott. I have Indian Creek chokes in a Rem. 870 12 ga., also in a Rem. 870 20 ga. (Youth Gun), and in My Benelli SBE II. I have tried a bunch of chokes and different loads. You can't hardly beat Nitro Company's loads. The only "over-the-counter" shell that I've found that hangs with them is the Win Extended Range. I shoot that in a #6 in my Benelli and it is BAD!!! I also shoot Nitro Company (out of MO) 2x5x7 in my 12 ga. You have to watch what the regulations on shot size are in the state you are hunting in. You can't shoot that shell in TN. They don't allow any shot larger than a #4. To be honest with you, the best patterning load I have shot out of any gun I own is my daughter's 20 ga. shooting a IC choke and Nitro Ray's 3" #6 Heavy Shot, but I can't let my daughter shoot that load. She is only 10 and that load stomps me like a young mule in her gun! But, I checked it with a paper target two weeks ago and that combo put 47 pellets IN THE VITAL AREAS of the turkey target (I'm talkin' in the brain, spine and wind pipe! The whole page was uniformly covered with an even spread of shot. I mean it was the most perfect pattern I had ever seen. That was at 35 yards. I don't plan on my daughter killing any toms further out than that. If you put the target on out to 50 yards I'm confident you would still have a good pattern. Hope this helps.

| In reference to the federal flight control loads, they throw and excellent pattern in my gun at 40 steps. You should also try them at 20 steps my results there have not been as satisfactory. I was not aware of the problems with a ported choke which I have and that could be where my problems came from. The last turkey I killed was about 18 steps and the flight control sleeve was laying less than 10 feet from the feathers and the wad was in em. I got the turkey but he was not shot up either he had a bruise about the size of a pack of cards against his breast bone. Some of the trouble could be the operator but I am leading off with a winchester load now.

| I shot a gobbler in Pa. two seasons ago with a Federal F/C load at 22yds, and the wad caught him in the chest where his beard was attatched, and ripped it off, blowing it into strings, and left a hole the circumfrence of a Skoal can in the place it used to be The pellets went where they were supposed to, but the beard was left all over the side of the ridge, and thus left me out of the contest I could have won. The winner had a, 8in beard, and mine was at least 10+ lol
