Hard times...

Hey guys/gals...

It's been a while since I've been around... the last year has been incredibly difficult.

My mom had a stroke and passed away, 2 months later we had an electrical fire in my home that pretty much destroyed everything.

I lost nearly all my hunting gear, guns, calls, etc. Probably lost close to 10 grand in custom made calls I had in my collection. Yeah it can be replaced... any material thing can... it's just been tough to start all over and have so many things go bad seemingly overnight.

Once it starts it "snowballs" I guess. There have been other things I won't mention.

I simply ask for all people of faith to send up a prayer for me and my family in this tough time.

As I heard a local preacher say "If you're not experiencing tough times... you'd better get ready 'cause they're comin'."

I was advised today that Greg Smith lost his battle with cancer. Our thoughts and most importantly, prayers go out to Ronnie (Florida Cracker) and his family! Even though he lost his battle here, he has won a battle eternally! May God comfort you and bless you with comfort and peace in a way that only he can.

The Crabtree family lost a life today of a precious young man! Doug Crabtree, Sting Team Member, lost his son, Trisen Crabtree, in a tragic accident! Trisen was 3 years old and loved by the Crabtree family as well as the entire Woodhaven Family! I know everyone involved needs your prayers! At the point in time that you read this message, take the time to hit your knees in prayer! The family, I am sure, will need them!

To Doug and the rest of the family, we at Woodhaven want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope the scripture above will help to comfort you! Update on Greg

Greg is about half done with his treatment up at Indiana U.. They harvested stem cells from his blood(immature white blood cells) which they transfuse back to him after each round of chemo. They took about a week to get up to acceptable levels so yesterday he and Phyllis (my wife) were able to return to the apartment, he will remain under observation until the 9th when he will start his next and hopefully last round of chemo, and then be able to come home the 28th.
The Lord has blessed us at every turn as we deal with this health issue, Between the university having a foundation which had an apartment come open across the street from the hospital that they are using for free to air fare that is allowing Phyllis and my daughter in law to travel back and forth. They have been given donations and had dinners and raffels that have provided funding that gives them the chance to worry about healing and not financing. It is good to live in a community that people still know one another and care for each other. It is almost overwhelming to have the amount of support these kids have gotten.
Once again my family thanks you all for your continued prayers. Greg still has a long road but we have faith that with Gods help he will be restored to good health.

My 26 year old son Greg's cancer has come back. He is finishing up the first course of chemo at Shands in Gainesville and will be sent to Indiana University for the rest of his treatment June 1rst. With the cancer coming back this soon the whole family is still in shock and naturally disappointed. To say the least we certainly need your prayer's, there is no strength like the strength of faith and christian support.
The good news is it is germ cell cancer which is suppose to be the easiest to cure and Indiana University specializes in this type of cancer.

Hey guys I justed wanted to ask everyone to remember my dad in your prayers.He diagnosed with cancer and given 3 months to live.He has never been an outdoorsmen but has always been there to congradulate me for my success.This past spring I had the oppritunity to call in his first longbeard,and it was a hunt I will never forget.I know the good lord will keep his hand on him through these hard times.God bless and thanks guys.

You guys continue to remember FlaCracker (Ronnie) 's son Greg and their family as he recovers from chemo and surgery. Just got word from Ronnie today that Greg has come thru the surgery and is in ICU for a while but hopes are that he is going to recover and be well soon!

I write this after visiting my best friend who has had heart complications in the past and was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He was not a turkey hunter but was one of the best duck hunters you ever want to meet. He quit hunting with his friends when his 2 boys were 8 and 6 years old so he could show them the outdoors and a way of life. I am all broken up inside but his maker will be calling him soon, and if I know him he will have his pirogue and decoys and his old Browning auto 5, oh and his yentzen duck call and pintail whistle. He will be jigging sac-a-lait [crappie) by some cypress trees. Thanks for everything DAD I LOVE YOU, tell Mom hi. Please say a prayer for him....

Bad Storms

Storms rolled through AL this weekend and unfortunately our community was not spared this time. Mike's parents have more trees on the ground than standing thankfully none hit the house. Their entire community was damaged. Our babysitters house is a complete loss, thankfully she and her husband were not injured (God was with them). Please keep them and all of the storm victims across the country in your prayers. I believe we are expecting more storms on Thursday. It will take a long time to clean up the mess left behind this weekend.

It's been serious here in Arkansas for the past two weeks. We are getting torential rains again, right now, and the water has not even had time to recede from many peoples homes in Arkansas, and several other states, since the last flood we got about two weeks ago! Let's all be in prayer for those poor folks who have been affected by these floods. There have been several drownings in Arkansas that I am aware of. Especially pray for the families of those who have lost their lives.

Kind of changing the subject, I'd like to ask everyone to please be in fervent prayer for our Country. We are ALL feeling the crunch at the gas pumps. The economy, the war in Irac, and the upcoming Presidential election are some of the things that I, and I'm sure that you, are really concerned about. These are all things that seem to be out of our control, but I know who is in control of ALL of these things, and my trust is in Him! Let's take it to the Lord in prayer.

Prayer for my Two Daughters

My two youngest daughters had a 4 wheeler wreck on Sunday Feb. 17, 2008. My 15 Year old was driving and had the 4 wheeler roll on her. She is still bruised and scratched up. No broken bones for her and by the grace of God there wasn't any. My 11year old Conner was on the back and was thrown several feet before crashing to the ground breaking her right collar bone. She had her Woodhaven Shirt on that Mike had given to her in Perry a couple of weeks ago. She is so upset about getting it dirty and not going to be able to hunt the first part of the season here in Ga. Yall please pray for them. I have had two disc replaced at the end of January and it has been hard for us here lately. I know God has a plan for us all and I trust he will be healing us. Prayer works and we need all we can get. Thanks for your time, Tim H.

He does construction, and things are kinda in a crunch around here. Great family, but the stress is really hammerin' them right now. Every little prayer helps. Thanks!

Tornado Victims

Please be in prayer for last night's tornado victims.
I graduated from dental school with a guy named Kyle
Hensley. He lives in Clinton, AR and has a general
dentistry practice there. He is the first person to ever
take me turkey hunting, back in 1994. Kyle has four
beautiful children, he is a deacon in his church, a great
Christian man, and one of my very best friends. I have
chased turkeys with that guy from AR to TX. Last night,
Kyle and his wife were in his dental office (about 10
minutes from their home). It was right around 5:00 when the
tornado hit Clinton. He took off toward his house. He has
a gorgeous two story brick home on the very top of one of
the tallest mountains in Clinton. Kyle's mother-in-law was
keeping all four of their children (one is an infant). When
they pulled up on top of the mountain, the tornado had hit
the house. It was demolished! Kyle's mother-in-law had
gathered all of the kids and they squeezed up under a stair
well, centrally located in the house. PRAISE OUR HEAVENLY
FATHER, they were all five under that stair case, safe and
sound! Not a scratch on a one of them!!! Kyle said his
neighbor that lives behind him was killed when the tornado
hit her house. Kyle's wife, Dara, drives (drove) a
Suburban. It was parked on the left side of their garage.
He said the garage was destroyed, along with the whole
house, and the Suburban was slung to the other side of the
garage and bent into! He had a shop building out back that
was flattened. Kyle said there are three confirmed deaths
in Clinton, but several people are missing. He said he
drove by several of his patient's homes and there is nothing
there except a concrete slab, and the people are missing.
This kind of thing happened in several other towns, in many
states, last night. Please pray for those who were affected
by these storms, and then go love on your familiy and thank
God for them! We all take our loved ones and our health,
way too much for granted!

Need your prayers....

Well...I haven't been around for a little over a week now, with the exception of a post or two here and there and here is why:

Last Friday (1/25), my father had major surgery (sigmocolectomy and some bladder electrocauterization). About 5 months ago he was diagnosed with SEVERE diverticulitis. They had him run several courses of antibiotics to supress the inflammation/infection to no avail. Over the past month and a half, he had been experiencing major bladder pain and more pain than you can imagine during urinating. He went back to the doctor and after speaking to the doctor they finally sent him to a specialist. In about 5 minutes the specialist knew exactly what was going on and told my father you MUST have surgery. Well...he scheduled the surgery and according to the doctors, the surgery went very well...better than they could have hoped. They were able to remove the infected colon and any other colon showing signs of diverticulosis as well as patch up his bladder. The diverticulitis was so bad it had pushed up against the bladder and created small passage ways to exchange bile acid/bowel fluids into the bladder, hence the extreme pain during urination. They were able to identify and fix the passageways....Then he was off to recovery. The end was in sight....

Here is where I need your prayers....it is almost 10 days later and he is still in ICU. His respiratory patterns are erratic, his breathing is shallow, his lung capacity is not where it should be and he is in terrible pain during bowel movements. He seems to be out of it most of the time and they now think he is facing a major infection (possibly MRSA). So they are treating him with so many antibiotics and top shelf antibiotics to help with that. It just seems that everytime he makes a small step forward....BAM....something else happens and now he is two steps behind. My dad is my rock, my mentor...he has always been indestrucible...and to see him like this kills me. I am spending every waking moment I can with him...but I just have this feeling he is giving up. He is only 65 and is as died hard a hunter as anyone I have ever known.

If I could....I would ask for your prayers for my father for a full and quick recovery from this painful and exhausting ordeal. He has a lot to offer to the world....and a granddaughter that loves him more than anything.

Tragedy in Jonesboro, AR

Please pray for the family of Tavien Epley. He is a six year old little boy from Jonesboro. His mother was dropping him off at school this morning. She thought he had cleared the front of the vehicle, but his backpack or coat had gotten shut in the car door and, as she pulled away, he was dragged under the car and run over. He was rushed to one of our hospitals, here in Jonesboro, and doctors worked for hours to try to save him, but they were unable to. He died around 10:00 am.

fighting for my sons soul

my wife and i have been fighting for custody of my 12 year old son since about nov. the case could not be finished this past friday and will have to continue tuesday. the lord has opened my sons eyes he is seeing the truth in all the darkness of the house he is in now. please pray for the lord to be with us tuesday to help him stand for the truth so he can help himself.

Baby girl on the way

Well my little girl was supposed be here the 31st of July, but it looks like it may be any day now. The umbilicle cord is wrapped around the neck and the embiatic fluid is lower than normal so the may go ahead and enduce labor tonight. Just waiting to get the word. Ya'll all pray for use it's our first one and I think My wife is looseing it.

She's an ultra sound tech so she knows what happens in all the situations, but it dosn't matter when it's your own.

May not make to the world good luck to everyone if I don't make it.

A family in our church has had a very big lose. None of you know them, but Jerry and Coockie Russel's son, Rusty, and his wife were expecting twins. They had been trying for a while and finally had there prayers answered. Today there were complications and they had to deliver them at 21 weeks. One never took a breath and the other breathed just long enough for the dad to hold it then it died also.

Please keep this family in your prayers. All of use that either have kids or expecting, like myself, can only imagine how they feel.

We recently got the results from my wife's second biopsy of a basal cell carcinoma on the side of her nose. THEY REMOVED ALL CANCEROUS CELLS!!! I am first thanking The Good Lord for the healing, and secondly, thanking all of you for your prayers for Leiandrea.

The Capps side of my family has had other things happen lately and we could use the prayers. My Aunt is a wonderful mother and she held a family together for years. She is a giver not a taker and would never ask anyone for anything so I am. Please pray for my cousin and his family.

Horrible night at the baseball field

This afternoon Benjamin and I were at baseball practice, and like at many fields cars were lined on both sides of the road. A drunk driver came through and struck two vehicles killing one of our players Grandfather and injuring his sister. Thank God a waoman and her daughter escaped injuries in the second car.

Pray for this family (they are a very close family) and for the drunk driver as well. As far as I know he had no injuries, they carried him off in handcuffs. Also pray for the children on the field that had to watch all of this......Hug your kids tonight.

Please pray for Ashlyn Higgins. She is the 2 month old daughter of Dr. Cliff Higgins that many of you will recognize from the forum. She has been sick for a while and has been diagnosed with RSV which is a horrible virus that attacks the lungs of infants. Right now she is being treated at home but if she does not improve will be admitted to the hospitlal. Pray for his other children as well who are also sick.

Bad News

A little boy that goes to my church lost a long battle with a rare childhood diseas, yesterday. His name is Hunter Guthrie. He was elevn years old. He died in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. His funeral and visitation will probably be on Saturday. Please pray for Hunter's Family.

Just to keep you posted and to update. Isaac is going for a series of follow up tests tomorrow. His two month type check and they are going to look at some of the areas he was having problems with in the beginning. They told us, time would tell and all would "most likely" heal on its own in time. SO, that said, in FAITH, I believe he is going to get a good report. We love you all! THANKS!

Mindy, lost her dad on Christmas morning

Please pray for my office manager, Mindy Watkins. Her father died from cancer at 4:30 on Christmas morning. His name is Bob Crowe. Please pray for his wife, Patty, and pray for their family. Mindy and her husband have two little girls that loved their grandfather dearly. The funeral is on Thursday, and they have asked me to sing during the service. That is going to be a hard thing to do, so if you think of it, on Thursday, please pary that the Lord will help me get through it, and bless the family during this difficult time.
