Where do you hunt? I don't think there will be any need for me to make a trip up there before season, there were birds everywhere during deer season. It was unbelievable!

JY

RE: Time to scout!

We have another month till season opens here in ky.I have been seeing toms strutting with hens here for the past 2 weeks but no gobbleing of a morning.I think they may breed early here.If they do the season should be pretty good.

RE: Time to scout!

Blair Wilkes here in Georgia! We have just recently begun to recieve warmer weather and everything finally seems like spring is here. Did a little scouting this weekend and the woods look good, seems to be very promising. I would like to remind the amateur hunters out there that it is probably not smart to be calling to your birds two weeks before season opens. Educating ol' Tom is is all you're really doing so please do yourselves a favor and scout don't spook. Personally, I am FIRED UP for the season. Good luck to ya'll!!!

-Blair Wilkes

RE: Time to scout!

Been scouting for about a week now here in Alabama. That-a-way if you can't score early that morning you know were the birds want to go and when they get there and you can be waiting on them! Then have a strutting decoy out there and watch the show! Happy hunting...

JY

RE: Time to scout!

In southern Indiana...

Got to 63 degrees yesterday and melted all 8" of snow. I started getting the fever, but then it is supposed to snow again tomorrow. I need to head south and hunt early. who know's i might get my first snow bird this year.

Help me with some scouting techniques please. I usually just go out before daylight and listen to them in the mornings a few weeks before season. I see lots of scratches, but it seems as if they travel differently every day here in the spring. Right now they are all going to the picked fields. What more do you look for? I am an ambusher when it comes to birds. Do you all try to pattern them? I'm hoping that this weather will mellow out.
