That is the cool part about these forums, the fact that so many people have so many different ideas to share.Dog hunting is a tradition, and it is important that there are people to keep it alive.I don't think there is a "right" or "Wrong" way to hunt.As long as it is safe, fun and legal, then I say do it! Then come back and share the story!lol

RE: Hunting style

Absolute favorite method is the dying sport of deer hunting with dogs. Not going to get into a debate at all, but times have changed and general consensus is against the sport. Even where it is still practiced the cost is really becoming higher than the reward, It just requires too much land to be able to hunt and not infringe on others, couple the cost of the lease with fuel and the expense of maintaining a pack of hounds and a man could hunt in Illinois cheaper.
Second favorite method is archery from an elevated stand, one day maybe I will get to try stalking in snow.

RE: Hunting style

Thanks for the welcome.

I myself am not a ground blind type of guy,not because thay are bad or anything like that but b/c I was raised hunting the big-woods of the Northeast, where I could always "freestyle" across the forest with my trusty pump Rem 30.-'06. When we have snow, you can track a nice buck and hopefully shoot him. When you don't have snow it gets a little tricky, but it is thrilling none the less.

My problem with blinds stems mostly from watching these crazy shows, where these "pro" hunters sit in there over a nice food plot and whine about that 160" class buck being "not what we're looking for" and passing it up.Finally they shoot a whopper that is eating from a mysterious pile on the far end of the field. They then walk up to it and poke it in the eye..

Sorry, went on a rant!

I just don't want to get stuck in a little box, when there's a whole forest with lots on neat things to check out.

CH

RE: Hunting style

Well first of all, greetings Aftershock and welcome to the forum. I have primarily hunted deer from treestands, but I have been wanting to switch it up a bit. I'm saving up for a double bull blind for turkey and deer hunting. Any thoughts on blind hunting?

Tim

Hunting style

What is your favorite method to hunt deer?
