|  A friend of mine killed this bird last week. He was out in the middle of nowhere, worked the turkey 3 or 4 days before he got a shot. I don't know if it's just a freak, or if it's mixed with tame birds? Another guy said he'd also killed one nearly the same color, years ago. Anyone else ever see one like this one? It was killed in West Virginia. |

| | Hey Redsnow, In my kid's most current issue of JAKES Magazine, there is a photo of what is called a "smoke phase" turkey. It is a hen, but it looks alot like the tom in your picture. It is simply a genetic mutation, kind of like an albino, but colored in this way, it is described as a "smoke phase". If you can get ahold of the current issue of the JAKES magazine, you can compare the photos.
