I was able to call this Old Tom away from 4 hens using the Stinger Pro Series Classic mouth call and the Cherry Classic Crystal friction call. He was strutting in the middle of a huge field and I was not able to move on him. I set up in some heavy cover at the edge of the field and went to work on him. I was amazed that he was slowly working my way but the hens were leaving the field on the other end! These turkeys around this area are hunted hard and are extremely cautious. Kudos to WOODHAVEN for making great calls and for Sting Team member Bobby Woods for teaching me how to use them.

Great job, thats a good looking place to hunt there in the photo. That is a big ol bird compared to our late season deep south swamp turkeys you will have to find a turkey living on a farm down here now to find one that would weigh in over sixteen pounds.

The photo was taken about 1 mile from where I took the bird. and yes this bird expired due to severe head trauma.

I live in SW Va. in Russell Co. Getting ready to head up to
Rockbridge Co. to close out the season. A Big Tom put the slip on me last year in Little North Mtn. Goshen and its time to even the score.
Its been a good season for Turkey hunters in this area.
