Just picked up a legend slate and was wondering what everyone's favorite striker to use with it was?  I currently have purpleheart, hickory, maple, walnut and a one piece laminated hardwood.  So far I like the purpleheart the best...

I'm not from NY...I'm from WESTERN NEW YORK!!!

I used quite a few different strikers at the Allegheny Sportmen Show a few weeks ago.  I like the combination of the laminate oak with the slate.

The purple heart is very consistent on that slate as well is the laminated strikers that we do. Either the flared tip or straight tip will work....the "flared" is maybe a little better.

I just got a legend slate this year, and Mike's right.  The purple heart striker sounds great with it.  I also have a striker that was home made for me that I love to run with the Legend.  I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but it is very soft material.  Can't get very loud with it at all, just doesn't sound right,  but it is killer on close in work.  I'm sure Mike has a striker made like that, I just don't know what it is.

I have been running a laminated birch flared tip on my Legend and I love it....although, I do like the straight tip Purple Heart as well.  But I think come game time in a couple weeks, it will be the laminated birdch flared tip getting the call!!!!

I use the flare tip Birch and love it. I also have a flare tip Oak but have not even broke it out on my 4 hunts so far this year. The Birch works great on the Purr Pot and nothing compares on my Vision Chrystal. I do prefer the Oak on my Cherry Slate. To be honest the Chrysal sounds sooooo gooood that the slate has remained in my vest.
