I was just curious as to what different members of the Sting Team say into some of their mouth calls to get that clear yelp or two before they get into a real raspy yelp.  I have listened to many contest callers and it seems the top callers always have that clear not or two at the start of their yelps.

I would like to be able to accomplish that and was hoping to practice based on some your suggestions.

Thanks!

Utah,  each caller is different in how they accomplish that clear front end on a yelp.  Two ways, tongue pressure and what the actual call is capable of. On my call it is tongue pressure and the ability to concentrate the air right in the middle of the call where there is no latex hanging over the second reed. As the notes of my yelping continue, I start reducing the tongue pressure and I use alot of jaw movemnet to ge the rasp that I do.

As far as a word, I have no clue of what I say or if I actually say anything.  Most times when someone tries to say a word, there yelping actually sounds like th word they are saying in to a hen. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW  WOW
